Carpet Cleaning Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why don’t you quote prices on-line?
A. Quick answer—no surprises. Every house/building is different. One gimmick used by carpet cleaners to run the bill up is to say, “This room is bigger, this hall is longer, I didn’t know about this or that.” By asking a few basic questions, all the hassle can be eliminated. I’ll work with you to give a quote that’s solid and competitive.

Q.  Do you move the furniture?
A. Quick answer—yes. We will move most furniture in living areas (for example: sofas, chairs, recliners, tables, dining chairs). We’ll place protective shields under the legs to protect the carpet. We generally don’t move beds (we can reach way under most) or heavier bedroom furniture (it usually stays in the same place anyway) but we can work with you on that. Lowest prices are given for empty rooms or minimal furniture because it does not require two people. As a general rule, we do not move electronic items; any loaded item such as china cabinets or bookcases; grandfather clocks; pianos; basically the things you’d imagine.

We reserve the right, up front, to decline to move anything we’re not comfortable with. This is a rare occurance.

Did you know?
95% of all residential carpet cleaned in the USA is cleaned by hot-water-extraction (steam cleaned)!

Q. What should I do to prepare for your visit?
A. Inside—just move any clutter or breakables from the rooms to be cleaned. Most people just place such items on beds or fireplace hearths, for example.
Outside—keep in mind we’re going to need to park closest to the door we’ll be using. No big deal, but if you have a small driveway, odds are we’re going to need it.

Q. How long will it take my carpet/furniture to dry and when can I use it?
A. Drying times vary, but generally 2–6 hours. Drying time is affected by humidity, weather, air flow, thickness of carpet, time of year. You’ll be able to walk on the carpet with clean shoes. Just be careful stepping off onto hard floors!

Q. Are the products you use safe?
A. Absolutely! If for no other reason, we who use them are exposed to them on a daily basis, and we’re not going to use anything that would be harmful. Besides, government regulations have it to where we couldn’t buy anything harmful if we wanted to. All our products are non-toxic, safe for children and pets, biodegradable, and phosphate free.

Q. Will your cleaning help my allergies?
A. Having your carpet and upholstery cleaned removes pollutants that your vacuum has never seen, and makes for a more friendly breathing environment. But it would be irresponsible for us to say this will or will not help with allergies.
